Description

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician to join our Distribution Business in Mount Pearl NL.

We are looking for a certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician with field service experience.

As a Power Generation field service technician, you will travel the island on a regular basis providing customers with professional services including but not limited to generator annual inspections, load banking of generators, generator and engine repairs as well as startups of newly installed Cummins products. The candidate will receive on the job training as well as classroom training on the diversified product line Cummins has to offer on current and upcoming Cummins Products.

Working hours are Mon - Fri 8am-5pm. This position does require overtime as customer demands and consistent travel within Newfoundland.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on Generator or component at the customer site with minimal direction.
• Engages with customer in a courteous and professional manner. Ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
• Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
• Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field.
• Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
• Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation.
  
  

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

Education, Licenses, Certifications

• Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
• Current relevant electrical certification
• Locally valid driving permit
  
  

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Intermediate level of workshop related experience required.

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products

High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience

(Intermediate)

• Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
• Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch.
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation.
  
  

(Advanced)

• Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems.
• Understanding switchgear schematics.
• Able to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians.
