Job Purpose
The PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems and industrial control processes using PLC’s.
Duties And Responsibilities
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Create and develop PLC programs to meet the automation needs of the industry or client.
- Test PLC programs to ensure they function correctly and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Maintain detailed documentation of PLC programs, including diagrams and flowcharts.
- Perform regular maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of PLC systems.
- Work closely with electrical engineers and other automation professionals to integrate PLC systems with other automation systems.
- Train and advise on the use and maintenance of PLC systems.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budge
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
- Degree or Diploma in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in PLC programming and industrial automation is often required.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagram.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create detailed schematics and documentation.
- Proficient communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients.
- Stay current with the latest PLC technologies and industry trends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Always work indoors.
- Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting and temperature.
- Standing involved.
- May repeat the same movement.
- Often wear safety equipment such as gloves, hair nets, steel toed safety shoes/boots and beard nets.
- Ability to bend or twist their body.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
