Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Assembles, tests, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs a wide range of electronics or electro-mechanical parts, sub-assemblies or assemblies in accordance with specifications, diagrams and drawings
- Applies their knowledge to provide timely testing and troubleshooting on products
- Builds test equipment, electronic jigs, or fixtures
- Basic maintenance and calibration of test equipment
- Compiles and analyses records, statistics and formulates basic reports as required
- Applies formula and calculations as required
- Recognizes and initiates investigations for workmanship non-conformances.
- Responding to process failures including root cause analysis
- Support product non-conformance investigation.
- Identify root cause of failures and make recommendation for corrective actions.
- To carry out periodical process review and to identify the root cause of any deficiencies found and ensuring corrective action takes place to eliminate the source of any deficiency.
- Flexibility to work shift work as required.
Required:
- Grade 12 with recognized community college technician/technologist qualification
- Up to date knowledge of electronic materials, principles, circuit construction and quality control procedures
- Good working knowledge of recognized industry workmanship standards
- Soldering skills compliant with recognized industry workmanship standards
- Proven mechanical aptitude
- Proficient in the use of basic software applications such as email, web browser, word processing and database operation
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to maintain a high level of productivity without compromising quality standards
- Attitude: has a positive can-do attitude in everyday work. Is able to deal with and support change.
- The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects
- Continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN, Six-Sigma and TQM
- Work measurement and standardization
- Experience within aerospace and defence is a distinct advantage
- Understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Visio
- Interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and other documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to learn quickly, be agile, and innovate to solve complex problems
- Entry level completed recognized community college technician/technologist qualification, no relevant experience required.
- Soldering training certified
