Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Project Lead or designate, develops and maintains computer applications by following the Systems Development Guidelines. Provides technical support to user departments and assists with technical orientation and training of staff according to established procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, plus two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to write programs in a variety of computer languages such as: Cognos Powerhouse QTP and Quiz; Cerner CCL, Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle; Visual BASIC; VMS BASIC, RMS, FMS, CDD; Microsoft Office development tools; and Perl and TCL.
- Ability to operate related equipment such as: Digital Equipment Corporation VMS and DCL; Microsoft NT Server and client; Microsoft Windows Operating Systems; TCP-IP networks; Citix metaframe; and HL7 and XML.
