Description Senior IT Project Manager | Lead Transformational Change

We are seeking a dynamic Senior IT Project Manager to steer complex procurement and enterprise system projects that will shape the future of public service delivery. This is a unique opportunity to manage impactful initiatives within a pivotal government transformation, ensuring delivery on multi-faceted projects that will enhance efficiency, compliance, and data-driven decision-making for Albertans.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Proven expertise in defining project scope and goals collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Skilled in developing comprehensive project deliverables such as charters, business cases, risk logs, dashboards, and status reports.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate decisions, lead daily meetings, and build strong relationships at all organizational levels.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience:
  • Active PMP or PGMP certification from PMI or an equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with agile, waterfall, scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
  • Prior involvement managing large scale, custom software development projects, especially in environments similar to the Alberta public sector.
  • Background working within enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Public sector experience, with an understanding of government stakeholders, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-organizational teams and aligning diverse resources toward project success.
Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • Several years of progressive project management experience, ideally in public sector or government-related projects involving enterprise systems, procurement, HRIS, or financial systems like SAP.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work from the office five days a week onsite in Edmonton, Alberta.
  • Ability to manage project risks and resources proactively, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills, including briefing notes and project status updates for executive-level audiences.
