This Position reports to:
R&D Team Lead
As a Mechanical Engineer – Product Support, you will have the opportunity to support the strategic direction of technologies by bringing your own ideas to identify, propose, and implement innovative technologies, software, and solutions.
Every day, you will assist the Research & Development (R&D) team by carrying out assigned tasks and applying your technical knowledge in a structured manner. You will also showcase your expertise by staying up to date with the latest advancements and actively applying this knowledge.
This role contributes to ABB Canada’s Electrification, Installation Products division and is based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
The work model is hybrid, with several days per week on site at the plant.

This role contributes to ABB Canada’s Electrification, Installation Products division and is based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
The work model is hybrid, with several days per week on site at the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a reliable contributor to R&D, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing projects.
- Serve as the point of contact for maintenance requests and support for a product portfolio.
- Promote product safety by demonstrating rigor in creating specifications, conducting FMEA, and validating quality criteria.
- Use technical expertise within your area of competence to solve problems.
- Contribute to product maintenance projects such as supplier changes, production change requests, quality issue resolutions, etc.
- Support R&D innovation projects by performing technical tests, participating in creative sessions, creating product drawings, etc.
- Contribute to achieving assigned objectives (quality, deadlines, scope, costs) and identify and manage risks.
- Be familiar with some of the key success factors for ABB in your field and carry out activities aligned with the current strategic direction.
- Ensure project management responsibilities.
- Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Ideally 5 years of experience in similar functions.
- Bilingual French-English. English is required to communicate with clients outside Quebec.
- Experience in modeling and technical drawing.
- Project management experience: an asset.
- Knowledge of CSA, UL, or other certification codes and standards: an asset.
- Experience with sheet metal: an asset.
- Experience with plastic injection molding: an asset.
- Proactive, demonstrating leadership by taking initiative when the situation requires it.
- Demonstrate rigor in all tasks and actions performed.
