REGISTERED DIETICIAN – Hybrid (remote and on site)

Amica White Rock

Part Time Contractor Role

$60-$65 Per Hour

As a Contracted Dietician to Amica White Rock, you will be working 16-24 hours per week. We are willing to offer a blend of remote and on-site support to support the dietary needs of 64 Long Term Care Residents and occasional education to our Independent Living community.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Consults with the Director of Culinary Services to determine appropriate dietary needs for menu planning purposes;
  • Provides direction on the preparation and service daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual dietary needs are met;
  • Evaluates residents’ dietary needs and determines specific dietary needs.
  • Monitors resident weight and intake, make recommendations to address any change in condition.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with residents and their families in order to determine individual needs, resolve issues or concerns, and evaluate resident satisfaction;
  • Ensures that the meals and services provided are in keeping with residents’ dietary and safety needs.
  • Provides residents with a safe and comfortable environment;
  • Leads and manages the DCS to achieve department goals;
  • Provides occasional educational support for independent living and families.
  • Organizes staff orientation and in-service training programs;
  • Liaises with municipal and provincial agencies concerning health and safety issues;
  • Voluntarily participates as a member of professional associations such as Dieticians of Canada
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards;

The ideal candidates will possess:

  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a volume food preparation environment in a retirement/LTC residence or the healthcare industry;
  • RD designation mandatory (registered in BC)
  • Must have excellent knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Certified for swallowing assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
  • Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task;
  • Customer service oriented
