Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent - Scaffolding will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with client requirements and Bird’s regulations.

The position is based out of Mississauga, ON

What You Will Be Working On

  • Estimate and requisition necessary materials and supplies for maintenance and construction projects.
  • Assign workers to specific tasks related to access solutions and monitor their progress to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets all specifications, safety regulations, and site requirements.
  • Compile production and worker performance reports, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Resolve employee grievances and manage disciplinary issues while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with other construction trades and project managers to ensure seamless workflows and timely project completion.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to meet client and organizational expectations.
  • Understand and adhere to Bird’s safety management system, policies, procedures, and values, emphasizing the importance of safety and compliance in all activities.


What We Are Looking For

  • Post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in a related field, and/or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction or industrial maintenance sector, particularly in access and structural systems. Nuclear experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Experience managing maintenance and construction projects across industrial and commercial settings, ensuring adherence to stringent safety and quality standards.
  • A proven track record of managing projects with strict deadlines and complex logistical requirements.
  • Familiarity with inspection practices, including hazard assessment and quality control measures.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project needs and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Competency in using project management software and other digital tools to track and report progress effectively.
