School Program Manager, Alpha - $150,000/year USD - #227057

Crossover

Date: 2 days ago
City: Ottawa, ON
Contract type: Full time
  • On-site in Toronto, Canada
  • $200,000 CAD/year

The most helpful thing you can do for an 8-year-old who's struggling is to keep expectations high. If that creates discomfort for you, this role isn't the right fit. If it resonates, continue reading.

Alpha has reimagined traditional teaching. Academic learning happens through adaptive applications that allow students to progress at their individual pace. There are no lectures. No constraints based on grade level. What remains—and what is most critical—is what technology cannot provide: life skills, motivation, and an adult who consistently holds each student to a standard beyond what they believed possible. That's your domain.

You might begin your morning guiding a Guide through their Coachbot data, identifying where a cohort is falling behind. By midday, you're facilitating a live workshop with K-8 students, executing a playbook activity focused on public speaking or feedback delivery. Afternoons transition to motivation work: reviewing individual student progress data, activating Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and re-engaging a reluctant 7th grader. Forty percent workshops, thirty percent motivation, thirty percent coaching. You maintain your own student cohort throughout, ensuring your coaching is rooted in direct practice.

You've likely been told you care too much about outcomes for education. That you're overly data-focused. That you're too willing to enforce boundaries that unsettle other adults. Alpha was designed for precisely that profile. You validate the model's effectiveness with your own students, elevate the Guides (Alpha's term for teachers) around you to the same benchmark, and as you produce results, your influence over campus-wide program quality expands.

Maintain the standard. Transform the student. Apply now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour live workshops focused on life skills (public speaking, focus, giving and receiving feedback) for K-8 students, using Alpha's playbook
  • Conducting motivation sessions that leverage Coachbot analytics and Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards) to achieve 100% student goal completion
  • Coaching Guides on fidelity to program standards and enforcement consistency, with each session yielding actionable improvement steps
  • Managing your own student cohort to ensure your coaching remains anchored in direct, firsthand practice
  • Monitoring student satisfaction scores, goal completion rates, and Guide performance data weekly to identify underperformance early

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching math, reading, or any academic content — adaptive apps manage all academic instruction
  • Creating curriculum or designing workshop activities (Alpha's playbook is your framework; execution quality is the standard)
  • Coaching Guides on instructional methods (Guides don't teach — you're coaching energy, motivation, and accountability)
  • Overseeing campus operations, budgets, or administrative tasks
  • Lowering standards when a student is nearly there but hasn't met the bar (the standard remains constant; your role is to help them reach it)

School Program Manager Key Responsibilities

Deliver Alpha's three commitments to every student: loving school, learning at twice the traditional pace, and developing real-world life skills.

Basic Requirements

  • On-site in Toronto, Canada (not remote or hybrid)
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or a related field
  • Led a team of 5 or more people, including hiring and terminating based on performance outcomes
  • Direct experience working with youth ages 5-14 in an educational or developmental setting
  • Built, launched, or significantly grew a program, team, school, or initiative — not just inherited or maintained one
  • Comfortable working in a school that explicitly rejects traditional pedagogy
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
  • Coached athletics, led experiential programs, directed camps, or ran youth programs at a scale that required managing cohorts and measuring outcomes
  • Left classroom teaching to build or run programs from a different seat (EdTech, tutoring businesses, youth nonprofits, school intervention teams)
  • Experience using learning analytics platforms to make weekly coaching decisions
  • Belief that the current education system is fundamentally broken and personal investment in rebuilding it
