Our north-central Vancouver Island based client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This newly created role offers a marvelous opportunity to put your strong technical accounting experience, can-do attitude and sense of humor to work!

Reporting to the CFO at this privately held BC company, you will be the newest member of the Accounting & Finance team and work closely with the business and management to assist with its success.

Your responsibilities will include a bit of everything in the accounting cycle; month end close, reconciliations, project accounting, and financial reporting. You will also be involved in the annual audit, compliance and internal controls development while supporting management and the business operations.

You have the desire to use technology to streamline processes and enhance available reporting features. The end game for the team is to automate wherever possible, improving both accuracy and timeliness.

Aside from capitalizing on current ERP system capabilities, you have intermediate/advanced Excel skills and are curious about new technologies that could be a benefit.

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in Accounting from a recognized educational institution.
• 5+ years of progressive and relevant experience including responsibility for full cycle accounting in a medium sized for-profit business.
• Experience in a costing environment with project accounting knowledge is a differentiator. Manufacturing or Construction would be ideal.
• Strong understanding of ASPE.
• Proficient with Excel and the use of technology.
• ERP efficiency, with SAP Business One familiarity strongly preferred.
• Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
• A strong desire to dig-in and figure things out.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• The desire to work in a caring, employee-focused environment.
