Senior Electrical Engineer – Building Systems

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA) | Hybrid Work Model

Salary: $115K-$145K

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to produce technical documents, including drawings, reports, and specifications
  • Mentor and support team members in their professional growth
  • Lead the execution of electrical designs within the department
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and technical evaluations of project documentation
  • Provide professional engineering certification where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and relevant industry regulations
  • Develop and refine electrical system designs, ensuring seamless integration with mechanical, structural, and architectural components
  • Design power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems for various building types
  • Coordinate and refine layouts for equipment rooms, floor plans, and system schematics
  • Perform calculations for electrical loads, lighting layouts, generator sizing, EV charging systems, and fire alarm infrastructure
  • Collaborate with consultants to align design requirements across multiple disciplines
  • Review CAD designs to ensure adherence to firm-wide standards
  • Consult with manufacturers and suppliers for technical guidance and equipment selection
  • Participate in internal technical committees to refine engineering standards and best practices
  • Handle additional tasks as assigned by senior leadership to facilitate project success

What You Bring:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering for building systems, with a focus on retrofits
  • A diploma or degree in electrical building services or a related engineering discipline
  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario (required)
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution, fire alarm, and lighting systems
  • Familiarity with Canadian and Ontario Building Codes
  • Understanding of ASHRAE and CSA/ULC industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail
