Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Oracle APEX and Database Administrator to support and enhance enterprise database platforms and Oracle APEX application environments. This role will be responsible for the design, administration, performance optimization, and lifecycle management of Oracle databases and APEX/ORDS platforms supporting critical business applications.
The successful candidate will work closely with DBA, middleware, and application teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems across development, QA, and production environments.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
Oracle Database Administration
- Manage and maintain Oracle databases (19c and newer) across multiple environments
- Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations
- Implement backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutions
- Monitor database performance and tune SQL, memory, and storage
- Manage database security, roles, and access controls
- Support PDB/CDB architecture, and database consolidation strategies
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle APEX and ORDS environments
- Manage APEX schemas, users, and workspace configurations
- Support APEX application deployments and lifecycle management
- Troubleshoot APEX performance, session management, and runtime issues
- Configure ORDS connections, pools, and security integration
- Support integration between APEX and enterprise systems (e.g., APIs, EBS, middleware)
- Manage multi-environment setups (DEV, QA, PROD)
- Support WebLogic or application server configurations for APEX/ORDS
- Coordinate database and application upgrades with cross-functional teams
- Maintain environment consistency and deployment standards
- Support capacity planning and performance testing initiatives
- Provide Tier 3 support for database and APEX incidents
- Troubleshoot complex issues including:
- Database performance degradation
- APEX application errors
- ORDS connectivity and configuration issues
- Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- Develop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenance
- Improve DBA operational processes and documentation
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deployments
- Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL is nice to have
- Develop automation scripts for deployments, monitoring, and maintenance
- Improve DBA operational processes and documentation
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database and APEX deployments
- Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements
- 5–10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience
- Strong experience with Oracle APEX and ORDS administration
- Deep knowledge of: - Oracle 19c+ database architecture
- PL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Experience with: - Linux/Unix environments
- Backup/recovery strategies (RMAN)
- Database upgrades and migrations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments
- Experience with:
- Oracle Data Guard
- WebLogic or similar middleware platforms
- Integration with enterprise systems (EBS, APIs, identity management)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (OCI preferred)
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and automation frameworks
- Experience supporting APEX in high-availability, multi-instance environments
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior DBAs
- Detail-oriented with strong ownership mindset (important for production stability)
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$89,200.00 - $129,300.00 Annually
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually
