Performs complex project management activities in TAI Life, Living Benefits & Annuities Reinsurance product development, upgrades, new product installations and consulting projects with guidance from leadership, in partnership with key stakeholders, with considerable latitude to apply independent judgement.

The scope of activities in this role will focus on the delivery of multiple, large, increasingly complex technology solutions that enable business value.

The Senior Project Manager will be accountable for all aspects of project planning, risk management, issue resolution and stakeholder communications. The Senior Project Manager anticipates challenges and applies proven experience to develop innovative solutions that may affect a diverse set of departments, divisions, or geographies.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

  • Applies significant knowledge of best practices, extensive project management experience, advanced domain knowledge and proven ability to solve complex problems.
  • Partners with stakeholders and governing bodies to define the project management methodologies and controls applicable to each initiative. Adapts to changing process requirements and communicates impact of changing requirements to all affected stakeholders. Applies fit-for-purpose project management rigor and discipline to ensure successful project execution, effective stakeholder communication and benefit realization. Must have flexibility and experience to shift between traditional and agile frameworks.
  • Creates and manages project plans and all other well-known project controls and may direct the work of other project managers. Anticipates risks and issues and leads creation of complex mitigation strategies to successfully deliver complex solutions that extend beyond the department, division, or region.
  • Provides informal leadership and coaching to other project management professionals and project team members to create and manage project plans and all other well-known project controls.
  • Cultivates partnerships with leadership, clients, key stakeholders, and project team members to develop comprehensive solutions and creative completion strategies that result in the successful delivery of business value.
  • Actively monitors industry trends, client-facing new business, strategic business and technology initiatives across the organization. Develops insights, shares ideas with key stakeholders and incorporates actionable items into solution development and project execution.
  • Identifies and acquires resources needed to meet project commitments. Identifies assumptions, dependencies and constraints that may impact successful project execution and delivery of business objectives. Drives cross-functional decisions and provides consultation to leaders and key stakeholders based on business knowledge, domain expertise and project management experience.
  • Applies advanced organizational change management principles and proven practices to assess change readiness and develop a comprehensive change management plan that will ensure adoption of delivered solutions and realization of expected benefits.
  • May supervise or manage two or fewer employees, and responsible for team's performance; coaches and mentors team members
  • Communicate risks to stakeholders and project sponsors; escalate issues and risks for mitigation.
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled project meetings (internal & externally with clients and vendors) as necessary.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of TAI’s project management methodology and framework.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP certification

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Business Management or Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 8+ years' relevant experience in project management, managing complex software projects lasting 6-12 months or longer, and involving more than 10 team members with iterative, waterfall or agile delivery frameworks.

  • Highly advanced project management, leadership, and vendor management skills; demonstrated ability to evaluate stakeholder objectives and scope for feasibility, understanding and scheduling to ensure projects meet success criteria and deliver business value.
  • Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate effectively.
  • Highly advanced knowledge and experience with various software development methodologies; demonstrated ability to discern "fit for purpose" methods and apply rationale to produce desired project outcomes.
  • Works with a high degree of automomy and capable of applying appropriate key project and program experience as appropriate.
  • Advanced ability to effectively identify and manage risks across multiple teams and projects.
  • Proficient with one or more project management and planning tools, including Jira and MS Project and project collaboration tools (Confluence, Sharepoint).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams end-to-end across structured software development lifecycle (SDLC) phases.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of finance and/or accounting principles, standards, and rules; demonstrated ability to apply financial management principles to projects under management.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and work under tight timelines; demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities and manage team dynamics in stressful conditions.
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to convey ideas in a clear and concise manner including preparing and delivering presentations to large groups.
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted technology solutions.
  • Advanced customer relationship and stakeholder management skills; demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and foster teamwork.
  • Advanced experience managing multiple, large cross-functional, international and/or global projects; demonstrated ability to lead virtual teams across diverse geographies and time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with remote and offshore resources.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project or equivalent, Microsoft office products.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of Atlassian suite of products (JIRA/Confluence) and Agile/Iterative delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated resilience working in environment with a high degree of uncertainty/change.

Preferred

  • 10+ years of complex project management experience in a fast-paced technology, financial services or insurance environment
  • Highly advanced risk mitigation and issue resolution skills; demonstrated ability to identify challenges and determine solutions.
  • Highly advanced communication and change management skills; demonstrated ability to effectively target communications and influence a wide range of audiences, from individual contributors to senior leaders.
  • Working knowledge and/or practical experience with Lean, SixSigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Project Management Office (PMO) and/or portfolio management experience.
  • Project tools (Confluence, Jira, Azure Dev Ops, etc.).

Compensation Range

$97,450.00 - $121,800.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
