A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Senior Test Technician at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you will play a key role in managing the test lab, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use. You will also collaborate closely with Test Engineers to establish validation standards, develop testing protocols, prepare test setups, document results, and maintain records for future analysis. You will report to the Test Engineering Supervisor.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Assist Test Engineers to set up, execute and monitor product performance and reliability tests according to verification and validation plans.
  • Document and report test procedures, conditions, and results clearly and accurately.
  • Compile and analyze test data, providing actionable insights to the test engineering team to support product improvements.
  • Participate in failure analysis investigations and root cause analysis, identifying failure modes and supporting corrective actions.
  • Oversee daily operations of the reliability test lab, ensuring that all equipment, tools, and systems are properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
  • Ensure the test lab is clean, organized, and well-maintained. Conduct regular cleaning and upkeep of lab equipment and tools to maintain a safe and efficient testing environment.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance and maintenance history.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and monitor key performance and reliability metrics.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of equipment failures.

Skills You Bring:

  • Post-secondary degree in electrical, mechatronics, or an engineering discipline from a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years in an engineering or production technician roles.
  • High comfort level with hands-on operating and maintaining machines, equipment and tools.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting test setups, equipment failures, and root cause analysis of issues.
  • Understanding safety protocols and best practices in a lab or manufacturing environment.
  • With strong attention to details, able to follow test procedures accurately and identify issues during testing.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings to assist in test setup and execution.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical issues and test results clearly to team members and engineers.
  • Flexible and willing to work in a very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with setting up and using various test equipment, particularly environmental test chambers.
  • Experience in lab management, including organizing workflows and overseeing daily operations.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum/pressure systems.
  • Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
  • Excellent time management skills and commitment to meet deadlines.

Compensation:

Salary Pay Range: $50,000 to $80,000 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
