Description

Position Summary:

We seek a safety-focused Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to manage all inbound/outbound logistics in our industrial workshop. You’ll handle packages, parts, and heavy equipment (up to 6,000 lbs.), perform quality inspections, and ensure secure transport—playing a critical role in our supply chain efficiency.

Responsibilities

Receiving & Quality Control

  • Receive and inspect all incoming shipments (packages, parts, materials, equipment).
  • Clean incoming equipment if necessary
  • Conduct quality checks against purchase orders; document damage/non-conformities.
  • Verify weights, counts, and specifications, report discrepancies immediately.
  • Manage unloading/loading using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes.

Shipping & Logistics

  • Prepare outbound shipments: Pack small parts securely and rig/lash heavy equipment (up to 6,000 lbs.) to pallets/trailers.
  • Select appropriate transport (flatbeds, covered trailers, specialized trucks) based on load specs.
  • Coordinate with carriers (LTL, FTL, couriers) for timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Generate shipping documents (BOLs, customs forms), labels, and tracking updates.

Workshop Coordination & Safety

  • Maintain organized staging/storage areas using 5S principles.
  • Operate/material-handling equipment (forklifts, cranes) safely; enforce rigging/strapping protocols.
  • Update inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) in real-time for received/shipped items.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA, TDG, and company safety standards.

Operational Excellence: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, consistently working towards the achievement of individual and team goals.

Additional Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • 3+ years in shipping/receiving within an industrial, warehouse, or workshop setting.
  • Proven experience handling heavy equipment (5,000–6,000 lbs.) and rigging/strapping loads.
  • Valid forklift certification; ability to operate overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of truck types (flatbeds, vans, reefers) and freight documentation (BOLs, packing lists).
  • Physical capability: Lift 50+ lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.

Preferred

  • Certification in rigging, transportation of dangerous goods (TDG), or WHMIS.
  • Experience with quality inspection standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP/WMS software.
  • Training in lean logistics or continuous improvement.
