Your Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment. The Social Worker III will provide leadership and mentorship to Social Workers in the acute care Hospital setting. In collaboration with the Manager, the incumbent will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations and scheduling of the social work service. Responsibilities include the development, implementation, and ongoing consistency of standards for social work, supervising the performance of Social Workers, scheduling, staff assignments, developing consistent practices and processes, providing leadership internally and developing external liaisons with respect to with respect to credentialing, continuing education and competency standards for professional staff, undergraduate and graduate students. The incumbent will also provide direct patient care on an as needed basis in a variety of areas. The Social Worker in the acute care is heavily involved in complex discharge planning, completing psychosocial assessments, financial assessments, capacity worksheets, assistance with legal documents and processes, as well as advocacy and counselling Description: As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s)

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) Additional Required Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience in acute care setting is required. Excellent critical thinking, communication and organizational skills are a must. A proven ability to provide clinical leadership, teach and mentor is critical to being successful in this position. Demonstration of strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills are required. Experience working successfully as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team is required. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills are required Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with the marginalized population with a good understanding of inner-city clients and resources is preferred. Knowledge of community resources; continuum of care and discharge planning is an asset. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook). Experience with Connect Care is preferred.
