Job Description

This position reports to the Director, Supply Chain Strategy & Solutions. The incumbent will lead all industrial engineering efforts including network design, warehouse reconfiguration initiatives, e-Comm fulfillment processes, WMS/TMS/ERP optimization, warehouse technology improvements, labour standards and productivity reporting, process improvements, and other engineering duties. The incumbent will work closely with Distribution Center leadership as well as Operations, Transportation, Inventory Control, HR, Planning & Merchandising, Safety, and Information Technology teams. They will prioritize Safety, Compassion, Expertise and Efficiency in all they do, and they live by our Core Beliefs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Safety – Operate in a way that builds trust with our customers, pets, and ACEs.
    • Support and guide ongoing facility maintenance programs such as racking inspections, repairs, and reconfigurations.
    • Implement material handling equipment fleet management systems such as Crown InfoLink or Raymond’s iWarehouse.
  • Compassion – Communicate and act from the heart with genuine care and courtesy.
    • Able to work effectively with on-site contractors and consultants.
    • Lead diverse work groups/teams to successfully meet established objectives.
    • Assist operations by the development and documentation of standardized workflows and procedures.
  • Expertise – Provide knowledge in an understanding and informative way.
    • Experience in warehouse systems, i.e., WMS, ERP, TMS, MES, WCS. Knowledge with RF & scanning technologies.
    • Project manage projects like warehouse reconfiguration, re-slotting, and various picking technology implementations.
    • Analyze appropriateness of current technology and make equipment recommendations using ROI analysis.
    • Assist in the research, designing, implementation, and integration of automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) plus advanced warehouse automated equipment and systems.
  • Efficiency – Use time and resources responsibly.
    • Assist in developing and documenting operational strategies that identify and prioritize areas for improvement like productivity, cost reduction, capacity management, safety, morale and working conditions, and customer satisfaction.
    • Develop engineered productivity standards using time study methods.
    • Develop and lead productivity improvements in a LEAN distribution environment.
    • Lead and/or support facility teams to build action plans that address identified priorities, implement changes, and track them for the purpose of evaluating the results.
Experience, Education, Certifications

  • Preference for a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in a Distribution/Logistics environment.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a distribution or warehousing environment.
  • LEAN-Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt industry accepted certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Network Optimization Models and Lamasoft software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Labor Management Software is a plus.
  • Experience with data analysis, process improvement projects, and workflow analysis.
  • Experience with ecommerce fulfillment platforms.
  • Experience with slotting optimization.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and MS Office
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is a plus.

Job Requirements

  • Able to work a daytime schedule (i.e., Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule occasionally according to business needs, including evenings, weekends and holidays to conduct observations, etc.
  • Able to travel to various locations across North America for site visits and conferences.
