GFL Environmental is looking for Spare Drivers to join our Residential Collection team in Coquitlam, British Columbia!

Availability Requirement: Please note that this is an on-call position. To ensure operational coverage, the successful candidate must maintain open availability for dispatch 7 days a week.

License Requirement: Applicants must hold a minimum Class 5 license with Air Brake Endorsement. Class 3 is preferred.

As the faces of GFL, our Solids Residential Drivers interact with residential communities on a day-to-day basis and perform tasks that make those communities safer and cleaner places to live.

The primary focus of this role is to collect and transport waste from assigned residential routes to our GFL facilities, where they then properly dispose of all materials. **This is a highly physical role - individuals must be able to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques**

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manually load recyclable waste into the rear or side of waste collection vehicle.
  • Operate a residential / recycling collection, side-load and hydraulic system to collect solid waste and/or recyclables on specified collection route.
  • Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Maintain route quality standards as predetermined by management.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner and appearance at all times (i.e., meeting customers and/or the general public while on route or in uniform.)
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Class 5 Driver's License with an Air Brake Endorsement
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment
