Job Description

Fortinet is seeking a skilled Staff DevOps Developer to join our FIO development team in Burnaby, BC. The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, tracing, and troubleshooting OpenStack infrastructure components, ensuring quality assurance, and supporting the ongoing development of our OpenStack-based private cloud platform. This position is ideal for OpenStack specialists with expertise in virtualization, Ceph storage, networking, and software development with QA experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and troubleshoot OpenStack private cloud platforms.
  • Optimize automation and performance of infrastructure components.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues independently and collaboratively.
  • Provide technical leadership and share expertise across the FIO team.
  • Work closely with developers to identify and fix defects, ensuring high-quality software.
  • Automate test cases and system monitoring through scripting.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software development within a Linux environment.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Go, or Python with strong TCP/IP networking knowledge.
  • Experience with server virtualization (KVM, OpenStack, VMware, etc.).
  • Expertise in Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
  • Familiarity with OpenSSL, Apache, iptables, MySQL, Tcpdump, Wireshark.
  • Knowledge of security concepts (firewalls, encryption, PKI, x509 certificates).
  • Experience in QA methodologies and software testing.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot software logically and analytically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $125,000 - $170,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
