Nature of the Work & Responsibilities
NATURE OF THE WORK:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assisting the teaching and technical personnel and students; by preparing and placing at their disposal the material needed for carrying out experiments and activities related to subjects taught to sociocultural and sports activities and to audio-visual productions.
The incumbent will perform duties relating to the operations of the sports facility (PARC). Secondary functions may include support for other Student Services departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs tasks required in the operations of a sports complex;
Monitor usage of the fitness training rooms under campus recreation to ensure compliance with college policy;
Track attendance of the rooms and monitor room to ensure user safety;
Ensures the preparation of equipment and apparatus for all activities;
Ensure that the inventory of equipment and supplies is in optimal condition and that an adequate reserve is maintained;
Reports equipment that requires major repairs or replacement and carries out minor repairs when possible;
Maintains, labels and classifies PARC equipment according to college procedures;
Responds to demands and requests for information and when required, registers applicants for programs or activities;
Performs data entry for general services, inventory, accounting and record keeping;
Sets-up, dismantles, distributes and collects equipment for students and staff for Physical Education courses, programs or related PARC activities;
Provides support to Athletics, both athletes and coaches, to ensure equipment and facilities are set up and available, as needed, which includes but is not limited to, laundry of team uniforms;
Works with student monitors for athletics events and campus recreation activities held within the gymnasium;
Supports Athletics department and game staff for the hosting of varsity home events;
Provides support to external PARC rentals to ensure facility and equipment are in line with requests;
Provides support in maintaining a booking system for the equipment, materials and facilities under their responsibility;
Prepares and maintains appropriate records, files, and reports;
Perform other related tasks.
Qualifications & Conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
To have a secondary school diploma (DES) or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
CONDITIONS:
Must possess good customer service skills;
Ability to work independently and to take initiative; task driven;
Intermediate oral and written English communication skills (testing may be required);
Intermediate oral French communication skills (testing may be required);
Basic level Word and Excel (testing may be required);
Knowledge of the requirements for different sports and sports equipment, an asset.
