Position Title Student Connect Funding and Awards Advisor
Position Summary Are you looking to work with a dynamic team that is making an impact for students? Do you have an interest in being a front-facing team member working with students on funding and award opportunities? We welcome you to join our team as a permanent, full time Student Connect Funding and Awards Advisor.

The Student Connect Funding and Awards Advisor’s primary role is to support student awards and funding programs. Working closely with the Student Connect Centre Specialist and the Student Connect Centre Advisor, Awards, this position provides advice and guidance on a wide range of student funding and award options for prospective and current students The Student Connect Funding and Awards Advisor assists students as they navigate specific processes to apply for scholarships and awards, complete the necessary paperwork, and submit the required documentation to provide the award. Additionally, the Advisor supports students through various provincial student aid and other funding source processes to secure funding for their academic programs
Position Responsibilities
  • Support the screening of students and refer them to the award and funding opportunities.
  • Guide students through the application processes for awards and funding.
  • Lead funding and award workshops for new and continuing students.
  • Advise students on the status of their funding and/or award application(s).
  • Provide instructions for submitting required documentation for award disbursement.
  • Respond to inquiries and elevated concerns regarding funding and awards.
  • Lead students through the eligibility requirements and process for tuition extension and/or interest-free status.
  • Provide information on student loan repayment and repayment assistance programs and tuition payment processes.
  • Inform students regarding the consequences of academic decisions as related to awards and/or funding such as withdrawals, add/dropping courses, and academic progression policies.
  • Advise students on the Request for Review with Alberta Student Aid and other funding agencies
  • Coordinates with eligible students and advisors to determine Foundational Learning Assistance needs for students.
  • Assist students in understanding program admission, prerequisites, and completion requirements using various advising tools, in collaboration with Student Connect Centre team.
  • Optimize student experience by providing timely feedback to student inquiries made in person, by phone, email, or mail in a timely manner.
  • Maintain awareness of institution-wide initiatives, latest programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Refer students to other services and resources across the campus and externally, as necessary.
  • Provide support to the Student Connect Centre team, as required.
  • Collect and accurately record student information ensuring FOIPP standards are maintained.
  • Enter information into Banner and prepare reports as needed.
  • Inform Associate Registrar, Student Services of emerging issues as necessary.
  • Participate at RDP events such as Open House, New Student Orientation, Parent Nights as needed.
  • Create and update procedures for processing funding certificates, agreements, etc.
  • Administer the Emergency Funding program at Red Deer Polytechnic.
  • Sign government forms related to funding (authorized signing official).
  • Generate a list of awards students have received through RDP.
  • Process Confirmation of Enrolments for full-time, part-time, and award funding.
  • Confirm program completion for Advancing Futures, Rutherford Scholarship, and other funding agencies.
  • Complete program information for out of province funding.
  • Assist the Student Connect Centre Specialist with tuition deferrals and extensions.
  • Responsible for batch COR and manual COR in the absence of the Student Connect Centre Specialist.
  • Administer the Foundational Learning Assistance program. Provide reports and approvals upon request.
  • Generate a list of awards students have received through RDP for administration and government.

Required Qualifications
  • Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent.
  • Over Two up to Three Years
  • Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player and able to work independently
  • Superior organization and planning skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a high-volume work environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the post-secondary sector
  • Experience with a student information system such as Banner is an asset
  • Student advising experience is an asset

Salary or Hourly? Salary
Salary AUPE Level E $60,645 - $70,946
