PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Accounts Payable Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the flawless and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This multifaceted role combines leadership, problem-solving, and a focus on continuous improvement to drive operational efficiency across the Accounts Payable team. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to the team by providing training and ensuring clarity on roles, responsibilities, and policies
  • Optimize Accounts Payable operations to ensure efficient transaction processing, minimize errors, and uphold strong controls with strict adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and internal compliance requirements
  • Manage vendor and internal relationships by promptly addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining effective communication channels
  • Supervise and manage team schedules, attendance, and vacations while implementing corrective actions to uphold accountability and performance
  • Lead all aspects of and ensure the accuracy and timely completion of monthly account reconciliations
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization efforts, and automation projects to improve workflow efficiency and accuracy
  • Champion established processes, controls, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX and Internal Control Framework) to ensure operational consistency and regulatory adherence
  • Resolve escalated challenges within the Accounts Payable function by investigating issues and implementing effective solutions

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, along with progress toward a financial designation
  • 3 years of experience supervising an Accounts Payable department
  • 3 years of hands on experience using SAP for accounts payable module

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
