Rygiel Supports for Community Living believes that communities are stronger when everyone belongs. We support people with developmental disabilities to live the lives they choose — building relationships, growing independence, and being part of vibrant neighbourhoods. Our work is guided by five values: Respect, Awareness, Integrity, Person-Centered practice, and Community.
This is more than a job. It’s a chance to help others live with dignity, choice, and belonging — and be part of a workplace that lives those values, too.
What You'll Be Doing:
You will blend your experience and leadership in the Developmental Services Sector, and support Rygiel’s mission to enrich the lives of the people we support through relationships, independence, belonging, and advocacy. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Person-Directed Case Coordination
- Carry primary case responsibility, including transitional-age youth and adults with complex support profiles, dual diagnosis, or behavioural support needs.
- Maintain regular face-to-face engagement with each person on the caseload to build relationships, observe directly, and ensure continuity of care.
- Lead person-directed planning, including goal setting, support mapping, and ongoing plan adjustment as needs evolve.
- Team Supervision & Coaching
- Supervise the Direct Support Professionals assigned to the caseload, including scheduling, day-to-day direction, performance management, and ongoing support.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and modelling to Social Service Workers as appropriate, building their confidence and skill in person-directed, harm reduction, and trauma-informed practice.
- Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure that supports are delivered in compliance with the Quality Assurance Measures (QAM) and all applicable regulatory and agency requirements.
- Monitor and review documentation, including progress notes, behavioural data, and incident reports, ensuring records are accurate, timely, and complete.
- On-Site Presence & Operational Oversight
- Flex working hours to ensure presence at the locations they oversee outside of regular business hours, including occasional unannounced check-ins during evening, overnight, and weekend shifts to ensure quality and continuity of support.
- Participate in the organization-wide on-call rotation alongside all other Supervisors and Managers, covering approximately 3 to 4 weeks intermittently throughout the year, during which you respond to support emergencies at locations.
- Respond to emergent issues at the locations during office hours, providing direction and support to staff as situations arise.
- Ensure that each location has what it needs to operate safely and to deliver consistent, person-centred support.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Contribute to interdisciplinary planning, drawing on clinical, behavioural, and community expertise, and collaborating with Registered Behaviour Analysts, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary planning in service of each person’s goals.
- Engage with families, external agencies, and community partners with professionalism and a commitment to Rygiel’s values.
What You Bring:
- Diploma or degree in Social Service Work, Developmental Services, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, Health Sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience supporting adults or transitional-age youth with developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis, mental health needs, or complex behavioural profiles.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of direct supervisory experience, including scheduling, performance management, and staff coaching.
- Demonstrated experience in case management, person-directed planning, and supervising or coaching frontline staff.
- Working knowledge of MCCSS-funded services, Passport, ODSP, the DSO, and broader Ontario developmental services pathways.
- Experience working alongside community partners (police, hospitals, postsecondary institutions, housing providers) is a strong asset.
- Current certification in Safe Management (SMG) is considered an asset.
- Comfortable moving between supervisory leadership, case coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong relationship-builder with credibility across people supported, families, staff teams, and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including documentation, plans, and family-facing correspondence.
- Grounded in person-directed values and ethical practice, with a bias toward action and steady follow-through.
- Organized and resilient in managing competing priorities across a multi-person caseload.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (dated in the last six months).
- 2 Step TB Test (or negative Chest xray) (dated in the last six months).
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C.
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence and reliable vehicle required.
What We Offer:
- Starting salary of $65k/annually
- 3 weeks of paid vacation annually
- 10 paid sick days annually
- Comprehensive employer-paid health & dental benefits
- Employer Pension with base contributions matched at 3%
