PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Supervisor, Rail Testing, you will lead and oversee contracted ultrasonic rail testing operations to ensure precision, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Your role is critical in analyzing and validating test results that drive essential rail replacement decisions. You will also take track protection and provide proactive safety leadership for contracted employees, fostering a secure and efficient work environment.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Take track protection and strictly adhere to all safety rules to ensure the well-being of all employees
  • Lead daily job briefings, plan work activities, and maintain crew safety throughout operations
  • Maintain regular communication with the Roadmaster to coordinate and keep Rail Flaw Detection equipment on schedule, meeting production targets
  • Perform high-quality work to ensure the safe passage of trains, issuing appropriate protective slow orders in compliance with Red Book standards
  • Be available for on-call duties outside normal business hours and workdays as required
  • Travel and work across the British Columbia territory
  • Work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks ON / 1 week OFF, with travel required to and from the work location

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous railroad experience is an asset
  • Strong computer proficiency with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
