What You'll Do
The Systems Integration Specialist will provide technical expertise in delivery and sustainment of satellite connected networking solutions for Viasat International Government (VIG) customers, primarily focused in Canada, EMEA and Latin America.

Provide networking infrastructure design, SATCOM system installation, commissioning, training and post-sales support to Viasat Government customers as part of the Service Delivery Western Hemisphere team.

What You'll Do
The Systems Integration Specialist will provide technical expertise in delivery and sustainment of satellite connected networking solutions for Viasat International Government (VIG) customers, primarily focused in Canada, EMEA and Latin America.
The day-to-day
Provide networking infrastructure design, SATCOM system installation, commissioning, training and post-sales support to Viasat Government customers as part of the Service Delivery Western Hemisphere team.
- Perform satellite solution hardware component configuration development and installations, including hosting, remote terminal, ground station and quality audit supplier installations, as well as commissioning (testing, inspecting, and checking all the operational components of a project)
- Develop and deliver infield operator technical training, support and maintenance of VIG Solutions internal network infrastructure (routers, firewalls, switches, servers and SaaS systems) and generation of user documentation for system maintenance activities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as well as warranty support and lead Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) requests when customers return items for repair and maintenance, or replacement
- Diagnose customer issues to isolate the identified cause and implement corrective maintenance strategies and act as technical escalation point for support engineers for SATCOM and Network system issues and provide SATCOM system training to end users/customer & contractors
- Track issues in JIRA to ensure accurate reporting to leadership
- Provide assistance to pre-sales engineering for demonstrations, exhibitions and partner support activities as needed and provide bid input for proposal schedules, resource forecasts and costs for technical elements of non-standard orders
- Conduct site visits to action physical audits, carry out maintenance activities on network equipment, modems, RF switches
- Collect and document device configurations, conducting comparisons as necessary to confirm device compliance to approved configuration baseline
- 5+ years' validated experience with RF communication systems and proven knowledge of satellite communications theory, electrical theory, Linux OS, and the OSI model
- Confirmed experience supporting IP/Networking devices including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches, ASA/Firewalls, IP Encryptors and IP networks
- Validated experience running Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies
- Demonstrated experience in Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) system installation & modem configuration in addition to installing and operating Satellite Hub systems
- Proven use of radiofrequency (RF) lab equipment, spectrum analysers, cabling, attenuation and antenna analysers and experience using lab test and measurement equipment (power supplies, DVMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators)
- Experience in the integration of satellite sub-systems with the ability to explain technical issues and concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Microsoft Visio
- Demonstrated knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
- Verified knowledge and understanding QHSSE compliance
- Ability to maintain a Current drivers’ license and passport for the location country
- Valid work permit for the country you would be located in and working from
- Current UK/Canadian government secret clearance or ability to qualify and maintain clearance within first 6 months of hire
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and rotating shifts in a 24x7 environment
- Associates degree in a technical field
- Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally
- University-level education with an emphasis on one or more of: communications theory, RF and/or digital hardware design, software development, networking
- Demonstrated prior Project Management experience
- Active Cisco CCNA
- Palo Alto PCNSE
- GVF Advanced Installer
