We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of transforming B.C.'s energy landscape. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

You’re an Information Systems (IS) wizard and know what it takes to construct applications, systems and a robust technology infrastructure that brings business operations into the future. Your detail-oriented and strategic approach ensures you capture all the necessary requirements for any project, and you utilize your interpersonal skills to build solutions that are designed with internal stakeholders in mind and address business needs.

In this role, you’ll create a long-term strategy for infrastructure technology by working with senior IS managers and business stakeholders. You’ll also organize development efforts for system solutions from inception to completion. This includes documenting our existing processes, conducting functional analyses, and developing initial requirements for system solutions.

In year 1, you will:

  • Develop an infrastructure roadmap that aligns with strategic goals and priorities.
  • Document the current network architecture and propose improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to shape solution strategies for upcoming initiatives.

In year 2, you will:

  • Update and extend the roadmap to incorporate advanced security architectures and capacity planning.
  • Deliver comprehensive designs for strategic initiatives and establish network design standards.
  • Provide architectural oversight for large-scale projects, including those involving external vendors.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience with a minimum of eight years of related experience in the utilities sector or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Comprehensive expertise across various technical domains, primarily networking, all relevant server platforms, disaster recovery strategies, data center management, backup strategies, and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data networking technologies like Cisco, VMWare, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cloudflare, SD-WAN, Azure ExpressRoute and AWS Direct Connect.
  • Excellent strategic thinking skills for tactical and operational planning activities, and to lead innovation by implementing best practices and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Effective collaboration and coordination skills to gain insights from departmental experts and deliver projects shared by multiple business groups.
  • Great attention to detail for designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance of projects and products.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
