Position Overview

Entrust is seeking a Technical Writer to join our product development team. This role is hybrid based in our office in Ottawa. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining documentation for new products, including online help systems, end-user, installation, administration, and knowledge base articles. Candidates with experience authoring both virtualization software and SaaS products—and able to multitask across documents are especially valued. The ability to create visual diagrams is required.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technical publishing, committed to accuracy, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the creation and maintenance of end-user guides, installation manuals, and online help content for KeyControl products.
  • Work closely with senior writers and engineering teams to gather technical information and document features.
  • Follow established documentation standards, templates, and style guides (e.g., Microsoft Manual of Style).
  • Assist in updating documentation based on product changes, bug fixes, and support feedback.
  • Perform basic validation of documented steps by testing simple workflows where applicable.
  • Participate in documentation reviews and incorporate feedback from peers and stakeholders.
  • Track assigned documentation tasks and ensure timely completion within Agile sprint cycles.
  • Support content updates and republish activities as needed.
  • Maintain version control and organization of documentation assets.
  • Provide regular updates on assigned tasks to the reporting manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience demonstrating technical aptitude across computer software disciplines.
  • 2+ years of experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for Software products.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities when there are parallel releases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with geographically distributed teams, including direct engagement with engineers and project managers.
  • Proficiency with MadCap Flare and Atlassian Confluence are required.
  • Familiarity in using VMware virtualized environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio or similar flowcharting tools.
  • Experience authoring SDK and API documentation.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Experience in updating Linux man-pages.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based software environments.

Where you will be: This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in our Ottawa, Canada office.

Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $72,500 - $106,000 per year. This position is also eligible for the company's discretionary annual incentive plan. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, skills and experience. In addition to your pay, Entrust offers eligible colleagues and their dependents comprehensive benefits, vacation, paid time off and paid holidays. Please speak with the recruiter for more details.
