We are seeking a Traffic Signals Engineer to join their Edmonton office. This hybrid role (3 days/week in-office) offers the opportunity to work on a range of traffic engineering and signal system projects throughout Alberta. The ideal candidate will have experience in traffic signal and illumination system design, traffic operations, and strong technical software proficiency.


Responsibilities


• Lead and support the design of traffic signal and illumination systems

• Conduct traffic operational analysis using Synchro, SimTraffic, and SIDRA

• Perform warrant evaluations for traffic signals and lighting systems

• Review and check designs using AutoCAD and Civil3D

• Conduct illumination analysis using AGi32

• Ensure designs meet applicable provincial and national traffic standards

• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports

• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal project teams

• Participate in tender reviews, contractor coordination, and commissioning

• Support road safety reviews, traffic impact assessments, and traffic studies


Requirements

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, Electrical, or related engineering discipline

• Registered P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.) with APEGA, or eligible for transfer (strong EITs may be considered)

• Experience in traffic signal engineering/design and illumination systems

• Proficient in Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and AGi32

• Knowledge of traffic design standards and guidelines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills


Assets:

• Experience with non-vehicular signal systems (transit, bicycles, rail)

• Background in road safety engineering

• Additional certifications: PTOE, RSP, PMP, M.Eng., M.Sc.
