The AI Center of Excellence is looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to join our team. In this role you will play a pivotal part in shaping the user experience of our AI solutions ensuring they are intuitive, user centric, and aligned with business objectives. Taking a design thinking approach, you will drive the end-to-end design process—from early-stage user

research to wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing to developing the UI. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, advocate for user needs, and make data-driven design decisions to maximize business impact.

Your Role And Responsibilities

  • Conduct UX research to understand user needs, pain points, and behaviors.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to visualize user workflows, interactions, and information architecture leveraging IBM design system and design thinking principles.
  • Implement responsive and accessible UI components using modern front-end technologies aligned with the IBM Carbon Design System.
  • Work closely with backend developers to integrate UI components with APIs and data services.
  • Perform usability testing to gather feedback and refine designs for optimal user experience.
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, data insights, and usability findings.
  • Ensure solutions are accessible, intuitive, and deliver real value to the end users, advocating for their needs throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate across engineering, design, and client teams in an agile environment to drive alignment.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in front-end development and relevant technologies.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Experience in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Software Development or a related field
  • Experience in UI/UX Design/UX Research or a related field
  • A portfolio of work samples that demonstrate an understanding of user-centered design
  • Experience with UI development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React (or similar frameworks)
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • Experience designing and executing user research and usability studies
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles (design thinking)
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills in English, and capable of communicating at both technical and non-technical levels
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Familiarity with design systems such as IBM Carbon Design System
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining component libraries and shared design assets
  • Familiarity with IBM Enterprise Design Thinking
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Git)
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
  • Experience designing accessible user interfaces that comply with accessibility standards
  • Exposure to AI/ML technologies and their applications in real-world solutions
  • Basic understanding of the Watsonx product portfolio or similar platforms
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure)
  • Startup experience, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving in fast-paced environments
