Purpose

The Vice President of Strategic Partnerships is tasked with managing and expanding high-value relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other key automotive stakeholders. This role is critical in shaping and executing national-level partner initiatives that drive profitability, market penetration, and strategic alignment.

The VP oversees the development of customized product offers, promotional campaigns, and integrated delivery programs that align with partner objectives and internal business goals. A core responsibility is to lead executive-level negotiations and manage complex financial services agreements, ensuring compliance, risk governance, and operational readiness. The VP also serves as the executive liaison for global OEM relationships, working closely with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of partner programs into Auto Finance strategies and delivery models.

Accountabilities

    • Partnership Development and Management: Own and manage strategic relationships with OEMs and key industry alliances. Ensure alignment through joint planning, performance reviews, and strategic goal setting.
    • Program Design and Execution: Lead the co-design and rollout of manufacturer-aligned offerings in collaboration with Product and Operations. Ensure timely and effective implementation of partner programs.
    • Financial Oversight and Profitability: Own budgeting, revenue projections, and cost-efficiency initiatives tied to partner programs. Monitor program profitability and ensure compliance with financial services agreements.
    • Contract Negotiation and Governance: Lead high-stakes negotiations with OEM executives. Structure and govern complex financial services agreements in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Risk.
    • Cross-Functional Integration: Coordinate with Retail and Commercial Sales to enable field execution of OEM offers. Align with Marketing to activate branded campaigns and measure effectiveness.
    • Risk and Compliance Management: Ensure risk governance and oversight of partnership-originated portfolios. Maintain compliance with OSFI and enterprise risk standards, including escrow account requirements.
    • Strategic Influence and Global Alignment: Serve as the executive liaison to Global Banking and Markets (GBM) for global OEM relationships. Drive cross-border growth initiatives and strategic alliances.
    • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track KPIs, SLA compliance, and program effectiveness. Use data-driven insights to refine partnership strategies and delivery models.
Education / Experience / Other Information

    • Deep experience in managing strategic B2B relationships (especially with OEMs).
    • Strong commercial structuring and negotiation skills.
    • Insight into Canadian automotive market and manufacturer programs.
    • Strategic thinking and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
    • Executive-level engagement with OEMs and global partners.
    • Involves contract negotiation, compliance oversight, and strategic planning.
    • Requires travel and coordination across multiple business units.
    • High-stakes environment with focus on profitability, SLA compliance, and partner satisfaction.
Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel occasionally.
