Job Description

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures.

General Responsibilities

• Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
• Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
• Manage the AP inbox
• Prepare batches of invoice for data entry
• Data enter invoices for payment
• Process backup reports after data entry
• Manage the weekly cheque run
• Record all cheques, prepare vendor cheques for mailing, and log all vendor cheques
• Maintain listing of accounts payable and the general ledger
• Process TD1 forms
• Assist with audits as needed
  
  

Requirements

• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining general ledgers
• Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheets, and word processing programs and highly proficient at email
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors, customers and company contacts
• Bookkeeping skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making skills, stress and time management skills, effective organizational skills and high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Previous automotive accounting experience an asset but not required
