As we scale rapidly, we are looking for an Automotive Apprentice Technician to join our reconditioning facility team. This role ensures that all vehicles meet Clutch’s high mechanical and safety standards and that repairs and maintenance are performed efficiently. You will help keep our reconditioning process on track, ensuring vehicles are ready for customer delivery and sale.

About The Role
We are on a mission to build a world-class team that drives innovation, growth, and excellence. As we scale rapidly, we are looking for an Automotive Apprentice Technician to join our reconditioning facility team. This role ensures that all vehicles meet Clutch’s high mechanical and safety standards and that repairs and maintenance are performed efficiently. You will help keep our reconditioning process on track, ensuring vehicles are ready for customer delivery and sale.
What You’ll Do
- Perform Clutch standardized vehicle inspections, including stationary checks and road tests
- Diagnose and assess mechanical and safety issues, identifying necessary repairs and preventative maintenance
- Provide recommendations on repairs and best course of action based on inspection results
- Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs, such as brake jobs, suspension work, tire services, battery replacement, fluid changes, etc.
- Document all repairs, maintenance work, and inspection findings accurately in Clutch systems
- Adhere to Clutch’s mechanical and safety standards, contributing to ongoing process improvements
- Communicate effectively with reconditioning staff, service leads, and management regarding vehicle status and workflow changes
- 3+ years of automotive technician experience, including mechanical diagnostics and repair
- Experience working with a variety of vehicle brands (domestic, import, and European)
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and adapt to changing demands in a busy environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable using technology (Google Drive, Slack, inspection documentation tools)
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
- Able to commit to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, including overtime based on business needs.
- Communication: Clear and consistent updates with team members and management
- Problem Resolution/Analysis: Diagnose vehicle issues methodically and recommend efficient repair solutions
- Customer Service: Support internal stakeholders with professionalism and responsive follow-through
- Team/Individual Contributor: Balance independent technical work with collaboration
- Working Conditions: On-site, shop environment with moderate physical effort
- Formal automotive technician training or relevant certifications
- Experience with advanced diagnostic tools or scan tools
- Previous apprenticeship experience in a reconditioning or dealership environment
