Your Opportunity:

This Diagnostic Sonographer will perform general and/or Cardiac examinations in the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Chinook Regional Hospital. Close collaboration with physicians, technical staff, nursing, patients, supervisor and management is required. This position may qualify for a recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months. Description:

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a hospital setting is an asset. Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility and make decisions. Effective communicator. Capable of working independently and in a team environment. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff and physicians.
