Your Team
Join Flair’s Dispatch team, where operational control and real-time decision-making support the safe and efficient operation of the airline’s network. Reporting to the Director, Dispatch, the Dispatcher is responsible for exercising operational control jointly with the Pilot-in-Command to ensure assigned flights are conducted safely, compliantly, and efficiently. Qualified in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations, this role develops, authorizes, and monitors flight plans while evaluating weather, aircraft performance, operational conditions, and regulatory requirements.
The Dispatcher maintains situational awareness throughout the flight lifecycle, identifies operational risks, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and supports the safe execution of flight operations. Operating within a 24/7 environment, this role contributes to operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and on-time performance across the network.
This position is based on-site at our Edmonton (YEG) office.

A Day In The Life
The duties of the Dispatcher include:
- Exercise operational control jointly with the Pilot-in-Command to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all assigned flights.
- Develop, review, authorize, issue, amend, and monitor Operational Flight Plans for scheduled, non-scheduled, training, and test flights in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and operational objectives.
- Authorize aircraft releases in accordance with approved Operational Flight Plans and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Analyze weather, NOTAMs, aircraft performance, airspace restrictions, airport conditions, and operational constraints to support safe and efficient flight planning decisions.
- Monitor flight progress and operational conditions throughout the flight lifecycle, identifying and addressing risks, disruptions, and operational impacts as they arise.
- Evaluate operational conditions and recommend solutions to support safety, operational reliability, and network performance.
- Coordinate with Flight Operations, Airports, Maintenance, Crew Scheduling, Air Traffic Services, and other operational stakeholders to ensure the timely exchange of critical operational information.
- Ensure operating crews receive accurate and timely flight plans, weather information, operational briefings, and other required documentation.
- Optimize routing, fuel planning, and payload capability while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and operational constraints.
- Support irregular operations by assessing operational impacts, developing recovery plans, and communicating operational decisions to affected stakeholders.
- Maintain operational records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Contribute to operational efficiency initiatives, process improvements, and departmental objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Flight Dispatcher Certificate in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
- Successful completion of the Transport Canada FDMET and FDOPS examinations.
- Experience:
- Previous flight dispatch experience within a CARs 705 operation is preferred.
- Experience operating within a Type A or Type B Operational Control System is considered an asset.
- Experience developing, authorizing, and monitoring operational flight plans in a commercial airline environment is considered an asset.
- Experience interpreting weather products, NOTAMs, aircraft performance data, and operational restrictions is preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess operational conditions and make sound decisions in a time-sensitive environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks and manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with flight crews, operational stakeholders, and external agencies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective working relationships across operational departments.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, particularly during irregular operations and rapidly changing operational conditions.
- Proficiency in interpreting weather information, NOTAMs, aircraft performance data, and operational restrictions.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and operational systems relevant to flight dispatch functions.
- Requirements:
- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
