Surrey Schools is seeking to fill a position in our Technologist team! Reporting to the Manager of Electrical, this position is responsible for providing exceptional technical and electrical information support to ensure maintenance programs and projects adhere to applicable codes, by-laws & regulations. This position develops, plans, organizes and schedules maintenance and other electrical projects. As an Electrical Technologies you will be communicating between internal and external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects and as such the ideal candidates must have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal. Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines as well as respond to time-oriented emergencies. The Technologist role requires thorough knowledge of computer applications and software applications related to the role.

Surrey Schools prides itself on providing our facilities staff with excellent work-life balance. Typical hours offer a shift of 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday. The successful applicants will be based out of the beautiful District Facilities Centre located in the heart of Surrey.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year diploma in Technology in a related discipline from a technical college recognized by the School District
  • Minimum three years related work experience in construction, maintenance field including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Registered or eligibility to register as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) or Architectural Technologist (AT-BC) with the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes
  • Understanding of Electrical Distribution, Lighting, Lighting Controls, Fire Alarm and Security wiring
  • Knowledge of the permitting and inspection process
  • Experience with project management/coordination
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license

This is a unionized position that offers a 37.5 hour work week with an hourly wage rate of $39.28 plus a comprehensible benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation and sick benefits.
