Omnitrans is currently searching for a Financial Director to join our Finance department in Montreal.

The Financial Director oversees financial operations, ensures accuracy, and maintains compliance with accounting standards. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and supervising accounting staff.

The Financial Director ensures financial integrity, provides critical insights for decision-making, and aligns financial goals with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CFO to develop and implement financial strategies that support the company's long-term goals, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual reports, and year-end audit files, ensuring timely and accurate completion to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to create comprehensive KPI reports for the Executive Team, ensuring data accuracy, relevance, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the annual budget process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct budget variance analysis, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and providing insights to the CFO.
  • Cash Management: Regularly assess and review the company’s cash position to ensure optimal liquidity, proactively prepare cash flow forecasts, authorize and oversee disbursements through banking systems to enhance treasury management.
  • Cash Management: Monitor, forecast, and optimize interest expenses and bank fees, implementing cost-saving measures. Authorize and oversee disbursements through banking systems, ensuring effective cash flow management and alignment with financial strategies.
  • Cash Management: Identify and evaluate cash repatriation opportunities to optimize global cash utilization and minimize tax implications.
  • Foreign Exchange and Risk Management: Analyze foreign currency risks and support in developing strategies to mitigate exposure, integrating cash flow considerations and forecasting FX gains and losses.
  • Accounting management: Supervise the accounting team, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Accounting management: Oversee general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
  • Stay current with financial and accounting regulations, providing timely recommendations to ensure compliance and enhance internal policies and practices.
  • Compliance and risk mitigation: Develop and comply with internal controls, policies or procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
  • Business Analytics: & Efficiencies: Provide analytical expertise in business analysis and financial modeling to support strategic initiatives.
  • Business Analytics: & Efficiencies: Work with other departments in the evaluation and streamline all financial reporting systems and accounting processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Overall accountability: Control, accuracy and timeliness of responsibilities Ensure control, accuracy, and timeliness in all responsibilities related to Treasury management and reporting.
  • Stay updated on financial and accounting regulations and standards, offering timely recommendations to ensure compliance and enhance policies and practices.
  • Oversee, review and calculations of Sales commissions.
  • Supervise and support a team of employees , fostering motivation and development in a flexible work environment.
  • Provide guidance ad coaching to resolve issues, promote autonomy, and encourage problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with management to define roles, optimize staffing, and ensure resource efficiency.
  • Manage performance processes, including goal setting, feedback, and training for team growth.

What You Bring

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in commerce or a related field, with a CPA designation
  • More than 5 years of experience in a similar role within a private company.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, advanced proficiency in Excel, and the ability to analyze financial data to generate insights and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information and ideas to management, including in presentations.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and a forward-thinking problem-solving approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks and documentation.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and continuously improve operations.
  • Adaptable and open to change, with a willingness and ability to embrace new situations, processes, and environments.
  • Skilled in defining and communicating a clear, long-term vision for the department and team, aligning strategies with organizational goals.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate insights.
  • Perfectly Bilingual.
