Job Description

As a member of the Hull Engineering team, the Junior Weight Control Engineer designs and plans processes, tools, and equipment needed for high quality, efficient planning, construction, repair, testing/commissioning, and delivery of ships, applying broad theoretical knowledge typically obtained through advanced education, and/or early work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, under the supervision of a licensed P.Eng, deliverables in an assigned job scope area.
  • Review detail design information using the 3D model, 2D drawings, and production bill of materials.
  • Review and resolve engineering defects related to the ships design.
  • Identify risks associated within their job scope area, their function, or the broader Engineering discipline.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within their job scope area and the broader engineering discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) in Naval Architecture or Aerospace
  • Some exposure to or interest in marine field through work experience (e.g. co-op) or academic study.
  • Demonstrated experience (generally 0-6 years) in ship design or construction or relevant complex industrial and manufacturing environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model and/or simulation of the ship, develop & markup drawings, develop presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, perform technical investigations, and develop statement of work for subcontractors;
  • Database development and management experience required. ShipWeight database experience preferred.
