Job Summary

The Packaging Project Manager is responsible for supervising New Product Development (NPD) as well as technical revisions for current items across all Pure Flavor locations and external Growers across Canada, USA and Mexico. This role oversees the Packaging Engineers and liaises with our Mexican division to implement Pure Flavor packaging at all locations. The Packaging Project Manager also works cross functionally across departments, ensuring projects are completed successfully on time, within budget, and meet intended objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a management plan for projects and ensure budgets and timelines are met.
  • Collaborate and communicate with all relevant departments (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, etc.) to ensure projects are completed within scope.
  • Guide a team of Packaging Engineers.
  • Oversee stock item master, ensuring descriptions and stock numbers are consistent across Famous companies.
  • Act as a technical support to the Pure Flavor brand of packers in Canada, USA, and Mexico in the area of packaging design.
  • Supervise all NPD activities and Packaging component updates.
  • Research new and upcoming packaging concepts and provide options back to the business.
  • Work closely with Sales to understand requests and bring ideation to life.
  • Outline cost saving opportunities via CIVE or other routes; determine strategies to reduce overall operating costs where applicable.
  • Research new suppliers; strengthen partner network across all facilities.
  • Oversee packaging testing, working with Quality, Production and Engineering to facilitate.
  • Oversee quality concerns and collect claims from Suppliers where appropriate.
  • Assemble data and prepare periodic and special reports, manuals, and correspondence.
  • Oversee and coordinate procedures, and review, evaluate, and implement new procedures.
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary required; Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience required; food manufacturing industry preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Project Manager Position.
  • Holds a valid passport and able to travel throughout Canada, US and Mexico
  • Holds a valid G license and able to travel to various company locations in the area
  • Exceptional project management skills; organized, strategic thinker, and financially responsible.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills.
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
  • Influential leader able to motivate with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style; hands on leader with experience managing a diverse team across multiple facilities.
  • Analytical thinker with ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities that allow projects and goals to be completed on time; Superior verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP software required; FAMOUS preferred.

Work Environment

  • Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; flexibility is required; ability and willingness to travel with out restrictions; must hold a valid passport, role oversees multiple locations.
  • Occasional work in a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F or in a greenhouse where temperatures range from 90-100°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting for prolonged periods is required.
