We are looking for a Payment Recovery Assistant.
The Payment Recovery Assistant’s role combines administrative duties for the Payment Management Team, asserts our right and negotiates recoveries of health and dental claims for injury caused by a third party and handles garnishments and bankruptcies for benefit overpaid on claims.

We are looking for a Payment Recovery Assistant.
The Payment Recovery Assistant’s role combines administrative duties for the Payment Management Team, asserts our right and negotiates recoveries of health and dental claims for injury caused by a third party and handles garnishments and bankruptcies for benefit overpaid on claims.
What You Will Do
- Assert Canada Life’s subrogated right for health and dental claims and negotiate recoveries.
- Assign new subrogation and overpayment files to team members in a timely manner.
- Oversee emails and faxes that come into the department.
- Process recoveries received from claimants/collection agency and submit to the Financial Operations department.
- Review garnishments and bankruptcies to determine if Canada Life is legally obligated to comply or if any outstanding information is required to determine Canada Life’s responsibility.
- Calculate government remittances and overpayments for bankruptcy situations.
- Provide instructions to the disability offices regarding payments required to be sent to courts, government offices and benefit payments to be made to claimants.
- Perform administrative processes for recoveries through fraud investigations.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle the pressure of deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
