What You Can Expect
The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for supervising day-to-day quality operations on the production floor, directly managing QA Technicians while proactively driving improvements in product quality, inspection processes, and overall quality systems within GRD. This is a key role in the ongoing development of the plant’s quality program, working cross-functionally with numerous teams including production, engineering, Order support, and supply chain. The role also serves as the key liaison with Central QA to ensure alignment with corporate quality standards, initiatives, and reporting requirements.

The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for supervising day-to-day quality operations on the production floor, directly managing QA Technicians while proactively driving improvements in product quality, inspection processes, and overall quality systems within GRD. This is a key role in the ongoing development of the plant’s quality program, working cross-functionally with numerous teams including production, engineering, Order support, and supply chain. The role also serves as the key liaison with Central QA to ensure alignment with corporate quality standards, initiatives, and reporting requirements.
The Successful Candidate’s Responsibilities Will Include
Supervision & Execution
- Lead, schedule, and support a team of QA Technicians in daily inspections, issue tracking, and data collection.
- Provide on-the-floor guidance and troubleshooting during inspections, product launches, and quality escalations.
- Ensure that inspection processes and documentation are being followed consistently and accurately.
- Assist with implementation of quality tools such as PFMEAs, control plans, and layered process audits and ISO Internal audits.
- Assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System within the GRD business unit, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Leverage data analysis tools such as Power BI to monitor quality metrics (e.g., FQR trends, NCRs, defect rates), identify patterns, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a key quality contact for production supervisors, engineering, customer service, and logistics.
- Participate in and help lead non-conformance investigations, corrective/preventive actions, and root cause analysis efforts.
- Support and prepare for internal and external audits (e.g., ISO, customer visits, or IFS-related assessments).
- Contribute to supplier quality communication and follow-up on incoming material concerns.
- 3–5 years in a quality role in manufacturing, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of quality principles, standards, and tools.
- Hands-on experience with common inspection tools and reading technical drawings.
- Proven ability to coach others and hold teams accountable to standards.
- Effective communicator—able to lead meetings, deliver feedback, and influence change.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality system preferred.
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, coatings, or mechanical assemblies is a strong plus.
