Civica Infrastructure Inc. (Civica) is a municipal water resources engineering consulting company located in Vaughan, Ontario. We provide consulting services to both private and public sectors for storm and sanitary sewer capacity assessment and optimization. Position Summary: The Senior CCTV Operator will take on a leadership role, assisting in managing and coordinating projects, and oversee and direct other technicians on the job site. As an expert in the Coordination of CCTV (and Sewer Flushing) Operations, the Senior CCTV Operator is expected to review logistical plans and engineering drawings to ensure the right equipment, staff, and traffic control plans in order to make non-standard work productive. This role ensures that problems are dealt with in real-time and will avoid the buildup of issues to be dealt with at the end of the job. The Senior Operator will primarily operate the truck and may also be required to assist in office, depending on the work conditions and difficulty as the job progresses.


Reporting Relationships: Field Services Supervisor


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tasks relating to CCTV mainline sewer inspections in various diameters of sanitary and storm sewers as per NASSCO’s PACP certification program.
  • Conduct tasks relating to lateral CCTV sewer inspections and manhole inspections under the NASSCO LACP/MACP certification program.
  • Use power tools and follow basic construction practices (using drills, power saws, grinders, etc.)
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and locate possible issues and damage to related equipment and inform the Field Services Supervisor(s)/General Manager of the appropriate solution and method of repair.
  • Carry necessary equipment (< 60lbs) from office/storage to vehicle
  • Conduct work within sanitary/storm manholes in a safe, effective manner (according to Confined Space and Working at Heights regulations)
  • Understand and safely use equipment including (but not limited to) tripod with SRL, gas meter, smoke generating machines, diesel truck while pulling dye trailer, and water pumping equipment
  • Drive safely and follow road regulations as per MTO, particularly when driving to work sites located on city streets/highways
  • Understand and have a basic knowledge of safe practices and proper use of safety equipment when working in spaces that affect vehicular traffic (Traffic Control training)
  • Clean and complete essential maintenance (check tire pressure, fluid levels, etc.) and inspections (circle checks, fluid drip checks) on work vehicles as well as on safety equipment and hand/power tools
  • Work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules (e.g., evenings, weekends, night shifts, overnight and out of town, extended hours, etc.)
  • Follow all company safety and working procedures
  • Be willing to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Thoroughly document site conditions and work being completed and produce daily reports of inspections completed
  • Complete on-site clerical work, including photographs, videos, and distribution of literature
  • Work independently and/or without supervision, and co-operate and work with fellow technicians
  • Perform other related duties as required


Requirements:

  • The CCTV Operator would generally attain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities by completing engineering (environmental or civil) courses at post-secondary institutions. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Valid certifications on Defensive Driving, First Aid CPR Level C, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Traffic Control (MTO Book 7) and NAASCO PACP, MACP and LACP certification.

  • Understand and safely use equipment including (but not limited to) tripod with SRL, gas meter, smoke generating machines, diesel truck while pulling dye trailer, and water pumping equipment
  • Organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of safe practices and proper use of safety equipment when working in spaces that affect vehicular traffic (Traffic Control training)
  • The incumbent must maintain confidentiality and standards of conduct, work well alone, under supervision and pressure, and be flexible and respectful.


Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience in CCTV operations is required, with a strong focus on sewer inspection and flushing.


Working Conditions:

Normal working hours in a field environment. May experience adverse weather conditions. May be required to deal with difficult clients, homeowners, or contractors. Will likely deal under tight deadlines, and may be required to work overtime and/or weekends to meet project requirements. The position will include travel across Southern/Eastern Ontario and may occasionally require work during evenings and weekends.
