The successful applicant will have a strong ability to prioritize multiple high acuity tasks in a fast-paced environment. Protecting the organization, our team members, and our guests through providing First aid, and preventative services around the 200 acres of WinSport facilities providing summer camps, Mountain Bike Park, and numerous other events and activities.
As a Patroller, you will be reporting to the Patrol Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of first aid to guests, staff, and volunteers under the guidance of the WinSport Medical Director.

As a Patroller, you will be reporting to the Patrol Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of first aid to guests, staff, and volunteers under the guidance of the WinSport Medical Director.
Responsibilities
- Following the WinSport Medical Control Protocols, provide prompt and efficient delivery of first aid and medical assessment and treatment to guests, staff, and volunteers in all areas of the facility
- Initiate and maintain Patient Care Reports, and other documentation as required
- Perform incident investigation when required
- Monitor hazards in the mountain bike / ski hill areas, and across campus
- Inspect mountain bike trails, jumps, and features and summer camp zones
- Open and close mountain bike trails as required
- Operate radio, and telecommunication equipment following WinSport protocols
- Monitor, record, and report on all emergency equipment including AED’s, medical supplies, first aid kits
- Assist in all park wide emergency evacuations (Fire/Ammonia/Weather)
- Embody the foundational values of a safety-based culture by adhering to WinSport safety policy and procedures
- Integrate safety protocols to ensure maximized safety of self, co-workers, supervisors, and guests
- Ensure compliance with posted OH+S advisories, and work closely with Risk Department managers to implement a safety-based culture
- Conduct guest discipline as required
- Other duties as delegated
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Advanced First Aid Certificate (stand alone or combined as part of a Wilderness First Responder – must be AFA or OFA3 certified) or NUEC
- Mountain Bike ability a strong asset
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to provide a clean drivers abstract
- Previous patrol experience an asset
- Ability to perform all responsibilities with a high level of professionalism
- This is a physically demanding position due to the nature of mountain biking, and the practice of lifting patients from ground level to a stretcher/bed/vehicle.
- May be required to be outside for up to 100% of time on shift
- Environmental exposures may involve: Extreme cold, hot, wet and/or humid weather, sunlight, wind, hail, among others
- Other exposures may include: Infectious diseases, needle-stick injuries and inherent risks of mountain biking and other outdoor activities among others
- Lifting no more than 125lbs with semi-frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50lbs
- May be required to stand for periods up to 4 hours
- Constant kneeling, bending and twisting
Winsport will provide the successful applicant with the following training:
- Winsport Medical Protocol training, ongoing scenario training
- UTV training
- Rope rescue – lift evacuation training from ground level
