We are seeking a Vice President, Institutional Sales to lead and grow the institutional sales and distribution strategy at Pender. This senior role is responsible for defining and executing a national institutional sales plan, building and mentoring a high-performing team, and developing relationships with pensions, foundations, endowments, consultants, and other key institutional stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven track record in institutional business development and a strong understanding of both public and private investment strategies. This role will be based out of Vancouver and will report to the Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a national institutional sales and distribution strategy that supports Pender’s growth objectives.
- Lead, mentor and grow a high-performing institutional sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and professional development.
- Acquire, maintain and grow key institutional relationships, including pension plans, foundations, consultants and other centres of influence.
- Represent Pender at industry conferences, client events and external meetings, effectively communicating our investment philosophy and capabilities.
- Deliver a high-quality customer experience; collaborate cross-functionally with Investments, Marketing, Product and Client Service teams to tailor messaging and strategies aligned with client needs and market opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Pender’s product suite across public and private markets, acting as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee Salesforce pipeline management and ensure timely and accurate reporting to support business planning and performance monitoring.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in institutional sales or relationship management within asset management.
- Proven track record of success in developing and managing institutional relationships across Canada.
- Deep knowledge of public and private market investment products and client needs.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance short-term execution and long-term planning.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA designation or equivalent preferred.

We are sharing that the estimated base salary range for this position is $173,000 - $225,000 per year. In determining final salary, Pender considers many factors including the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, job responsibilities, market conditions, position location and internal equity. Our aim is to ensure fair compensation practices that align with industry standards while acknowledging the unique value and expertise each individual brings to the role. The final base salary for the offer will be presented as part of a competitive compensation package.
